Stuffed the largest size that would fit on my Specialized Turbo Vado SL and it rides like a dream. Fast rolling on asphalt and enough traction when on the light dirt/dusty roads.

Specialized Pathfinder Pro

Put the Pathfinder Pros in 47 on my Stigmata for The WYO 131 gravel race. This route is 131 miles long with 10K of climbing. A probably 20 miles of pavement and a combination of smooth fast gravel and some chunky hard climbs. These tires seemed fast and surprisingly stable in the softer stuff. I liked the smooth strip for the pavement but the side lugs gave great holding power in gravel corners. 47 width gave a smooth ride. I am sticking with these tires.

Good for both pavement and gravel

Versatile, rugged tire good for both pavement and gravel. They wear well and appear to have good puncture resistance. I had them in 700 x 38 and upgraded to 700 x 42 to handle some more rugged terrain. They did great on both packed and loose gravel.

Big fan. There are a lot of good online reviews and videos and these tires are in fact awesome. Soft, grippy, yet still fast. I hope they never discontinue them.

Got 1,500 miles out of the Pro

Just swapped out Pathfinder Pro after 1,500 miles for the S-works version. Raced on a set of Pro tires a few times this Spring with no issues and put over 1k miles of training rides on them. The Pro on the rear got a small slice right on the smooth center section that would sadly never completely seal. Got tired of refilling sealant and wiping off sealant from frame and the back of my jersey after rides. Typical training rides are rugged and over sections with large sharp rock so not surprised the rear tire only lasted 1,500 miles. Let’s’ see how the S-Works version compares!

Favorite Gravel/Groad Tires!

I have tried many gravel / mixed surface tires over the years, from Panaracer to Maxxis and WTB. These are by FAR my favorite. The sidewalls seem less prone to cuts that other tires, the roll fast on the road, and they have just enough tread in unpaved roads. That includes hard pack gravel, loose gravel, sand, and dirt. I have 1,200 miles on my current 38s and just bought 42s for when the 38s are done.

This tire is exactly what I need. I ride rough paved and some gravel. This tire rolls nicely and is fast and responsive. Not sure how it would do on a pure gravel ride, but for my needs its great. It's also quieter on my trainer.

The Best Gravel Tires I've Ridden

I've now ridden all three sizes of the Pathfinder Pro – 700*42, 700*38, and, most recently, 700*32. They all roll really fast and I have never flatted on them. I've ridden them tubeless and with tubes, mostly for training but also for events and races. I currently have wheels with the 42's and a matching set with the 32's and I swap them regularly. The 42's are wide and can really go anywhere – they're just enough bigger than the 38's to make it worth putting them on for extra assurance in rougher gravel and singletrack. I most recently rode the 700*42's at the Vermont Overland without any problems – they handled the class 4 roads with relative ease. They're fast on roads and reassuring on trails. They inflate to 42mm wide exactly on "gravel-specific" rims and have not gotten wider after a year of riding them. The 700*32: Wow – these are awesome! I got them as soon as they were released and they are perfect for that sweet-spot of mixed road riding and lighter dirt roads and gravel trails. They feel a lot faster than the 42's, which I really like for rides when I'm mixing paved and dirt roads or when I'm riding a lot of paved to get to dirt roads. While the 38's and 42's are close to each other, the 32's feel much faster on the road and on trail. I think the quickness comes from them being noticeably lighter and maybe more aero. It's enough of a difference to make swapping wheels worthwhile. They inflate to 32mm on gravel rims after a few months of riding them, making them perfect for cyclocross frames, too. I think that all sizes of tire are one of the best value out there, too.
