Why We Like The Barra ChromaPop Polarized Sunglasses

Smith certainly styled the Barra Chromapop Polarized Sunglasses for the streets, there's no doubt about that, but subtle undertones really optimize these lenses for fishing. The Chromapop lenses filter two specific, unwanted wavelengths of light that cause eye fatigue and color confusion in order to deliver greater definition and popping colors. The skies will look bluer, the grass greener, and the lake will be all the more beautiful when we pull a rainbow trout out of the water. Smith treated the backside of each lens to reduce glare when we're fishing away from the sunlight.

Barra glass lens

Great lenses but frame is not good for fishing, which is what these were bought for. They look good but are not comfortable. Rubber and frame are separating and cracking after only a few months which was disappointing. Very forward heavy, even with croakies they slide off if you're looking down, which is almost constant while fishing. Better off going with the Guide's or a plastic lens to balance the weight.

Lines in lens tint

Love the style and fit of these glasses and how sturdy they are. Unfortunately both lenses have developed lines in the tint coming from the sides. These have stayed in the protective storage bag unless being used so they've been shielded from harm or so I thought.

Nice glasses, great service

These glasses have great frame material and VERY large lenses, which make them great for progressive-focus lenses. Smith, unfortunately, negated one of my prescription lens focus specifications, but they gave me a credit (not as much as the glasses) and I had a local optometrist install lenses with the correct focus.

These glasses are heavier than the normal glass lenses. However, the fit and sun protection are great!

My boyfriend loves these glasses, and so did my dog...

My boyfriend swears by these glasses. They're his go-to fishing glasses and he says they're comfortable enough to wear all day on the river. Unfortunately, my dog thought the temple length was a bit too long and decided to customize. Will be buying again!

Broke after one drop

Wore these twice, dropped once and they broke. I’m not a tall guy and these broke after they fell off my hat onto an LVP floor. They weren’t slammed on the ground or sat on. They are pretty bulky and have a very small, plastic connection point to the hinge which is where they snapped. This is my 3rd pair of Smith sunglasses and my previous ones took way more abuse both on and off the river.

Great for fishing in marine layer to mostly sunny

I got Barra shades in Matte Tortoise + ChromaPop Glass Polarized Brown Lens for spotting fish from above water. Working great. I have multiple Low Down glasses for every day use, but these are more "technical" in that they have the subtle, integrated side shields for blocking light from the sides. They also work well in the light conditions I often have near the coast. Super helpful for spotting fish.

No more sunglasses for women/smaller faces!

Such a bummer that all the Smith sunglasses are for dudes/large size now. Wish they still made the Purist!
