Why We Like The Selle SMP F20 Carbon Saddle

For maximum comfort and freedom of movement, the Selle SMP F20 Carbon Saddle has our back. The F20 is constructed with ergonomics and performance in mind with a special foamed elastomer padding that keeps our sit bones securely situated without the extra bulk and a narrow seat to accommodate those of us with narrow to medium sit bones. Carbon rails and a carbon-loaded nylon body offer a stiff and responsive platform, so we can really throw down some watts on our next ride.

Great saddle except the carbon rails

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer
Size Bought:
135mm
Height:
5' 11"
Weight:
170

I have 3 of these saddles with hundreds of hours of riding time. 2 of them have carbon rails and the other is aluminum. No comfort issues for me. Used the sizing tool on the SMP website and have been quite happy. I've been on a Selle SMP for over a decade. The center relief channel works well in all riding positions. Great balance of road feel and a touch of cushioning. 2 of the saddles have performed flawlessly for me, even on Gran Fondos with lots of rural dirt roads. My issue with my most recent F20C purchase is that the carbon rails are not a true 7x9mm. It's more like 7x8.5mm. It doesn't sound like much. This is not an issue for certain seat post clamp styles, but for my Winspace T1550 Gen2 and others like it (eg. older Cervelo P2C) with a 2-part clamp that sits in a 2cm round tapered opening in the seat tube with a single thru bolt, it's got to be a 9mm oval rail height or there's simply too much play. I've tried various materials to shim the difference only to get deep into rides and have the saddle slide back. Very frustrating. Since I built the bike up during the winter, it's only now that the problem is apparent and beyond hacking together a solution. Going to swap saddles to my other bike with a different clamp style. Best I can do unless I really want to pursue it with SMP. Would I buy from Selle SMP again? Sorry to say, I don't think so. Too many other options out there today.

Great saddle overall but narrow cutout

Familiarity:
I've used it several times
Size Bought:
134

This saddle was sufficiently padded and was quite comfortable overall!. (I was worried since the description indicated minimal padding.) However, the cutout/channel was too narrow for me and was painful in my perineal area when I hit bumps. I had to exchange it for a saddle with a wider cutout/channel.
