Not happy with shoe overall performance
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
- Size Bought:

I purchased this pair of shoes for an upcoming cycling trip along the Erie Canal. Depending on the manufacturer, I wear a size 13 or 14 shoe. I looked forward to the BOA system providing a better wrap/support around my feet. I ride with two pairs of socks, a thin liner, and a thin wool over sock. I ride about 35 miles daily, 5 out of 7 days a week. Over time, I began to incur hot spots on the soles of my feet, and recently experienced an excruciating pain in the heel (calcaneus) area that started to lengthen my ride time. I needed a resolution and visited my local bicycle shop. They inspected the shoe's heel cup area and found it was poorly constructed with inadequate padding. On the store's recommendation, I purchased a pair of Specalized Recon 1.0 Gravel & Mountain Bike Shoes. I already rode two 35-mile sessions with zero discomfort with more rides to come.

Must have gotten a mis-manufactured shoe
- Familiarity:
- I returned this product before using it

I like the look of the shoe. And the left shoe fits very well. But the fit of the right shoe was very uncomfortable. It was particularly tight toward the front of the shoe. The width of the right shoe was simply too narrow. I had measured my feet, and any small difference in width between my left and right foot cannot explain the difference in comfort. I've never had a pair of shoes in my entire life in which the difference in comfort between my left and right feet was nearly this big. I suspect the right shoe is somewhat mis-manufactured. I'm particularly dissatisfied because it looks like I'll have to pay shipping to return a product that I regard as defective. This experience makes me reluctant to order again from Competitive Cyclist. (By the way, this is the first negative product review I've written after many hundreds of online purchases, despite not always being satisfied with purchases.) Also, the price of the product dropped $17 in the week since I made my order, adding insult to injury.

Nice Start
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
As stated this is my initial impression after a few road rides. Size and fit is good for me. Might be just a hair on the narrow side but I have a very wide foot and like most shoes I imagine they?ll stretch out a little. Really like the BOA system and like most Pearl Izumi products the quality is spot on. Good balance on the stiffness of the soul. look great!

Great shoe for wide feet
- Familiarity:

I have really wide feet and I was worried that these wouldn?t fit because they aren?t ?wide? however they fit great. I need to break them in more but first 20 miles were perfect.
