Wrist is very small with no elastic

I measured on the smaller side of medium and ordered that. Fit well once on my arm, except the wrist has a very strong seam stitched with no elastic. It was painful and almost impossible to get the wrist opening over my hand. My hands are not huge - glove measurement 8.5". I now have to return these.
