This is my first pair of Lakes and I understand the loyal following now. The shoe appears to be made very well and the fit is perfect for me. I generally associate Lake as "the shoe brand for wide feet". While I still believe that's mostly true, this narrow width ended up being spot on for me. I typically fit very well in Shimano, Pearl Izumi, and Specialized standard width shoes and I would say the Lake Race Last in the narrow width fits very similarly to those brands. The sole is super stiff and gives you a very stable footbed to push against. I haven't even tried the heat molding yet to shape the heel cup, but so far I haven't felt any heel lift. It's hard for it to imagine them fitting any better. The only problem now is I'm realizing how faded my white socks are in comparison. The trick will be to see how clean I can keep them!
