Why We Like The Five Ten Kestrel BOA Mountain Bike Shoe
Completely redesigned to handle the demands of cross-country racing and downcountry riding, the Five Ten Kestrel BOA Mountain Bike Shoe is built for speed and comfort. Made with recycled materials, the abrasion-resistant upper is hyper-breathable and features two hook-and-loop straps and a BOA closure so that we can dial in our ideal fit for high-output rides. A full-length glass fiber-reinforced plate allows us to really put the hammer down on the climbs and is bolstered by Stealth Marathon rubber lugs for insane amounts of traction off the bike.

The reviews for these cycling shoes are mixed. Many found them comfortable, well-made, and suitable for gravel and mountain biking, praising the fit, traction, and appearance. However, some reported issues with the fit, including a large toe box and uncomfortable tongue. There were also concerns about durability, with problems noted with the closure system and straps. While generally decent shoes, the fit and quality may be inconsistent.

Was expecting more out of these shoes since 5/10’s are so popular. Big toe box but overall not that comfortable, wouldn’t buy again

I got a pair of these to wear in addition to my Sidi Dominator shoes which fit on the narrow side and I often get foot numbness. The Five Ten fit really nicely; extra room in the forefoot but the BOA dial allows you to keep the overall over the top of your foot snug. I like the stiffness in the forefoot for my propensity to be a pedal masher but the shoe flexes just enough for hike-a-bike as well. I got the same size as the pair of adidas running shoes I own (and the size I generally wear for shoes) and the fit is perfect. Would absolutely purchase again and recommend.
