Here's what customers have to say
The reviews on these tires are mixed. Many customers found them fast, lightweight, and grippy, especially for racing or high-intensity riding. However, a significant number reported frequent punctures and flats, even when used tubeless. Some also noted the tires were challenging to mount and ran smaller than expected. Overall, the tires seem to offer a good balance of speed and comfort, but their durability and puncture resistance appear inconsistent.

Another solid GP tire
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer

Had GP 4000s for my older bike forever. They have been great. On the TR side I have been through others before getting the GP 5000. The Michelin Power something tire I had felt super fast and amazing grip, but definitely a race tire. It wore and got cut too easily for everyday riding. Have an Enve that was nice but way too fragile. The GP 5000 doesn't feel super fast or super grippy, but its very good, and it is way more robust than other tires I have tried for about the same price. Its just a very good value tire for me, as I dont race anymore.

I have ridden these tires for 3+ years. I love the tires, and love the grip in all riding conditions. The challenge for me is durability. I still give the tires a 5 star review because my expectation of durability with these tires is not reasonable. I ride year round in Seattle and bike commute to work on my road bike with these tires. October to May there is a lot of road debris and the tires get cut up. I ride them tubeless until I get too many cuts and then ride them with tubes. I estimate that I get about 1,500 miles before I get any significant punctures, and then I get about 3,500-4,000 total miles on them before I replace with new.

New bike came with Grand Prix 5000 S TR’s tires are very comfortable and a great tubeless or tubed option. I run them tubeless and I’m very happy with their ability to seal small punctures, accommodate plugs for larger punctures and provide a very comfortable ride. I’m not sure if they’re the longest lasting tires available as they do show some wear after only a few hundred miles, but I’m very happy with them.

The only tires I use
Best weekend warrior tires. A lot of grip and really does resist a lot of puncture.

Real fast, tough as a latex balloon
- Familiarity:

I really wanted these tires to become my go-to tires but after running through two sets, I'm done. They roll great and they're light but I've experienced 3 punctures that didn't seal on their own and leaked even after repairing from the inside with multiple methods. I ride mostly roads and bike paths and go out of my way to dodge glass and road debris. After they no longer hold air set up tubeless they basically become a really expensive tubed tire that no longer has the rolling resistance or weight benefits you pay for. No thanks.

Great fast workout joy ride tires
- Familiarity:

After trying many other tires over the years these are my favs for my weekly trail workouts...typically I can keep these at a average of 17mph average speeds on a semi rough paved trail in Sacramento CA area on 2020 trek domane slr7 etap for around 20 miles with a good amount of effort...others I have tried are great tires but these seem to be the best balance of weight, comfort(32cm at sram calc psi tubless muc off... sealant 190 rider), and reliablity...you can probably find something a little faster but it will probably be a race day tire that will sacrafice relialbility etc...for years I road gatorskin hardshells to ride to work and they seem to be really tough but you will sacrafice weight, harshness, and resistance for probably about the ultimate durability

Fast tires but tough to mount tubeless.
- Familiarity:

These tires are very fast and I haven't had a puncture yet. But they are very tough to mount as tubeless. They are extremely tight on the wheel and tend to draw into the center of the wheel groove and away from the rim. So unless you have a way to inflate them quickly with a high-flow rate air line like a bike shop, you may have trouble getting them to expand out to the rim and create a seal when mounting tubeless. I eventually gave up and put Continental Conti-Tubes in them since that's what I'm more familiar with. They are excellent tires now.
