Backcountry Slickrock Pant offers breathable mobility and weather resistance for shoulder-season rides
What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:
"These are a great in-between pant—not too heavy, not too light. I can ride in them in fall and spring, even winter with a base layer. They’re super comfy and don’t get in the way when I’m clipped in or hitting tech."
Designed to handle the shoulder seasons and technical terrain with ease, the Backcountry Slickrock Pant blends breathable stretch, durable protection, and thoughtful fit for riders who keep spinning even when temps drop. Modeled after our popular Slickrock Shorts, these pants add coverage while keeping the ride feel fast and unrestrictive.
The lightweight stretch-woven fabric delivers full mobility for high-output trail riding, and a water-resistant DWR treatment keeps moisture at bay when conditions shift. An articulated pattern accommodates pads, and the tapered leg profile ensures smooth pedaling without hang-ups. With adjustable waist tabs and zippered pockets, every detail is dialed for long rides, unpredictable weather, and full-season versatility.
Whether you’re hitting alpine tech, desert rock, or damp fall singletrack, the Slickrock Pant is built to keep you riding with confidence, comfort, and control.

Fabulous pants.
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I wear these pants all the time. They fit great and are easy to care for. I like that they are not just rain pants for bike riding.

Great pants on the bike
Great pants. Lightweight poison ivy protection on the trails and awesome for commuting around town. Fit as expected.

Very comfortable

I haven't actually worn these on the trails yet (I plan to soon), but they're so comfortable that they've become my favorite office, home, & airplane pants (15 hour flights). The slickrock shorts have been my go-to mountain biking & bikepacking shorts for more than a year so I took a shot on the pants. I have the black - I'd like to get the gray if they go on sale.

Awesome bike pants.
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Feels great, looks great and above all the price is great. I like the fact that it has slit on the side thigh to have some air flowing. The lower part has an elastic cuff with zipper closer which hugs your shoes/ankle.

Good, but major design flaw
The ankle cuffs zip on the inside of the ankle, with a flap that covers the zipper pointing forward. This allows for the flap to get sucked in to the chain on the top side of the chainring. And and all excess material should be on the outside of the ankle

Almost perfect, but the ankle zips...
- Familiarity:

are useless. The unzippered leg cuff is so tight that I cannot add warmers or pads without taking the pants off.. and I cannot take the pants off without taking my shoes off.. I have tried with 510s and Specialized 2FO DH shoes If I could easily remove the pants with shoes on, this would be a 5 star product, and probably the best on the market. The material & stretch is great, I love the pockets and the vents are awesome.

First bicycle pants!
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I gave the Slickrock pants a four star rating mainly because I have nothing else to compare it with. I am older, and in better than average condition for the age. My main sport, is running my very fast dogs in agility. Bicycling helps keep me in condition for those 30 second competition dog runs. I got the pants in early fall and have made maybe 6 rides in the 10 + mile range. I do only road cycling. With the weather holding warm until Thanksgiving, feel very comfortable with temperatures over 45*F. This morning was the first hard frost opportunity to ride. I backed up the Slickrocks with synthetic long johns, and set out. The legs felt a tad cool. The sudden drop in temperature probably played a role in that. I am still adjusting my gear to support cold weather bicycling. This mornings ride was only a couple of miles to test where I am. Definitely need better riding gloves! Back to the pants, I am short. Wish the Slickrocks came in a 30" length, but putting one fold in the pant legs took care of the excess material. Otherwise great pants! 5'7", weight 165. Male

Almost fits the bill, but the cuffs?
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
The style, color and fabric are pretty much what I was hoping for. But - the leg cuff zippers are on the inside of the leg, not the outside. The zipper literally gets caught in the front crank/chain, not just a few times. Not only is the leg full of oil, it has proven dangerous! I ordered a medium which fits but a tad tight in the waist (5’20” @180 pounds…. Sometimes 175). I have not washed them yet, but appears to be made well and should hold up.

Fit is awesome! Needs more pockets.

Love them but almost returned because there’s only 2 pockets. Not great for travel but great for biking and bumming around.

Better than imagined
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I was looking for some casual and functional pants. I always wear shorts and hate pants. The material is actually quite breathable. I would normally never wear pants biking or hiking however these are the pants to wear. The access on the sides if you need to make any adjustments for knee pads or just leave the sides open for extra venttialtion came in handy when I was out hiking in the desert. I highly recommend these. I am about to buy my third pair. This should go without saying but the material is easy to burn so if you are wearing these around a campfire make sure to keep some distance. I did burn a very small whole the first day of testing. Other than that they are rock solid.
