Slickrock 7in Bike Short delivers breathable stretch and a dialed fit for streamlined trail performance
What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:
"I’ve worn these from Moab to the Wasatch—they're lightweight, stretchy, and super comfortable on the bike. The short inseam keeps things cool, but they still feel technical enough for serious rides."
Created for long climbs, fast descents, and sweltering summer days on the trail, the Backcountry Slickrock 7in Bike Short delivers a low-bulk fit and breathable performance for all-day riding. The shorter inseam and minimal feel make it an easy choice for XC and trail rides where mobility matters more than coverage.
Built from a quick-drying, four-way stretch fabric, the short moves with the body on climbs and techy terrain while shedding heat in exposed conditions. The articulated cut, gusseted crotch, and minimalist waistband reduce chafing and bulk under a pack or hip belt. With secure zippered pockets and a refined fit, it's the short we grab when efficiency and comfort are top priority.
Whether you’re lining up for a high-mileage trail day or heading out for a quick spin, the Slickrock 7in keeps it light, fast, and focused.

Awkward fit
The color was great and it looks like these have a lot of great features, but sadly the fit is just off. While I realize I’m not gifted with many curves, the way these shorts stick out just below the hips is bizarre, just too much space and then they are snug at the cuff.

WHY DID YOU CHANGE THESE?!
These we my favorite bike shorts, bought last year. I saw the new burgundy color this year and was very excited so I purchased right away. WHY would you change it so the bottom of the legs were tighter? Dont you realize that gals who bike usually have thighs? Incredibly disappointed.

The best MTB & Hiking Shorts
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
First things first.. I LOVE THESE SHORTS! I have these in black size small and love love loveee the way these fit when on my bike or out hiking! I am buying these in the new colorways for this spring summer line as I am in love with the Oil Blue colorway that just dropped. I will also be going with a longer length as well to give those a try on my bigger resort riding days where i want more coverage. The fabric is light weight, have great venting, water beads right off of them and they are incredibly flattering. I get compliments on them every time I'm out on my bike. I would say these are very true to size. I am normally around 125-128lbs and felt that the small fit perfectly with my chamois underneath! Love the slickrock shirts as well when paired with the shorts or pants you cannot go wrong!

Great MTB shorts!
Love the thigh and waist vents to keep things cool. The fabric is heavy enough to withstand abrasion but light enough so you don't overheat. Silicone grip is a nice touch that keeps everything in place!

First choice
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I have several other pairs of mountain biking shorts and these are always my first choice. The material feels high quality and has perforations in some areas for extra ventilation. The included belt is perfect for keeping them in place. I also love the zipper pockets! Perfect for quicker rides when I only want to carry my keys and phone.

Cute, but Terrible Fit
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
Shorts look great, but they ride up your legs and crotch when riding, pretty uncomfortable. Happy with the size, but the fit is all off.

A little off
- Familiarity:
- I returned this product before using it
The sizing is a touch more snug than the previous version of these (which I loved). I returned bc I like to have my phone in my pocket. With the 7” the zipper can close wedging my phone (reg iphone13 for size) under it, but the pocket isn’t deep enough so the phone sits at the hip bone and makes it uncomfortable to pedal.

Amazing Intro Shorts
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
If you’re new to mountain biking, get these. I bought an older version of these that Backcountry makes and put them through the ringer! From Moab to NC to California they were my go tos. When they finally kicked the bucket I got these right away. I’ve only used them a few times but there are even more design improvements. I love the 7 inchers bc they work with the Covert liner. Fit true to size for me!
